LetX provides real-time LaTeX editing, cloud compilation, the Lexi agent, and a hosted MCP server. The figures and plan details below come from LetX product pages checked on 29 August 2026.

The verified baseline

LetX reports more than 2,600 registered users, 1,000 compile-tested templates, and verified institutional domains from more than 230 universities and research labs across more than 50 countries. Its official statistics page lists a typical end-to-end compile time of about six seconds, full TeX Live with more than 5,000 CTAN packages, and unlimited collaborators on every plan.

Those figures should be cited with their verification date, not treated as permanent. The canonical source is LetX by the Numbers, which states when its data was last checked.

Lexi compiles its edits

General-purpose assistants can produce LaTeX without knowing whether it builds. Lexi reads the open project and the actual compile log, proposes or applies an edit, runs the compiler, and uses the result to validate the change. Its published commands cover error repair, tables, TikZ diagrams, citations, formatting, translation, Beamer slides, and conversion from screenshots or PDFs.

Lexi works with the project compiler and version history. Its current commands are documented at letx.app/lexi.

A hosted MCP server

The hosted endpoint at https://api.letx.app/mcp connects LetX to OAuth-capable MCP clients. The documented tool surface lets an assistant search templates, create a project, list and read project files, update source, and compile either loose LaTeX or a stored project to PDF. LetX says the connector is tested with Claude, ChatGPT, and Claude Code.

OAuth keeps the LetX password out of the external client. The consent screen lists requested scopes, and users can revoke a connected app. The setup guide and tool table are published at letx.app/mcp.

Free, Pro, and payment handling

The current Free plan includes 40 compiles per day, the last 15 versions, the full template library, real-time editing, and unlimited collaborators. Regular Pro is listed at $18 per month or $180 per year. Student Pro is listed at $9 per month or $90 per year. Classroom, lab, university, and department plans use custom pricing.

The pricing page said self-service checkout was not live when checked on August 29, 2026. LetX names Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record for subscription payment processing. Its privacy policy says LetX does not receive full card numbers. Verify availability and prices on the official pricing page.

Limits of these figures

The user and institution counts do not imply institutional endorsement. The typical compile time does not guarantee the same result for every document. Cite each figure with its definition and verification date.
